Snow Storms and Vet Visits…

It’s snowing again here in Mid-Michigan.
B*L*A*H*!!!!
I am so over winter, I just cant even put into words how over it I truly am! Friday afternoon we got hit with a crazy snow storm that dropped 11” of wet and heavy snow on us. The snow started around 3pm and by midnight, I couldn’t open my front door there was that much snow. I could NOT force it open! Luckily the back door didn't get blocked with the snow. While I was in the kitchen making dinner, a loud BOOM shook my entire house and it sounded like we were being bombed!! THUNDER SNOW!! I had heard thunder snow before, but not like this! I seriously thought we were being bombed or that something had exploded. It really was crazy!! We were fortunate and didn't lose power. Typically we don't lose power because all of our lines are underground here. Even when the village goes out, we maintain our power.
The snow was beautiful though, and everything had a glittery sparkle to it when the sun hit it just right. By Saturday afternoon, a lot of the snow had started to melt. I still couldn’t get out my front door, so I had to have the neighbor kid come over to shovel us out. He did a pretty good job, but the snow was so heavy and he’s such a scrawny kid, lol…that I had to have my sons, Dustin and Robbie, come over to dig us out.
The maintenance guy that does the plowing here doesn’t have a clue how to plow, and I ended up with roughly 3’ of snow banked at the end of my driveway. Ive tried to explain to the guy that all he has to do is run his truck/blade up this side of the street to keep from plowing this side of the street in with snow, but he just doesn’t get it. That, or he just doesn’t give a shit…which I am beginning to believe is the case.
By Sunday things had melted a lot, all the snow was gone off the roofs and trees and the sun was shining like a perfect Spring day. Mother Nature sure is an amazing thing. And now today, its gloomy and cold an snowing again. I dont think we are supposed to get any large amounts of snow, but they are saying that another snow storm is headed this way the end of the week. UGH!!

The song, “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd https://youtu.be/W9sbFm5ijcU is playing in the background, and it takes me back to my oldest son Brandon and his wife, Elz’s wedding. It was the song that he picked for he and I to dance to. If you’ve ever heard the song, its the words that I basically told him about growing up. It was a special wedding and a special dance and its a memory that I will always cherish. Brandon made me gruff on the outside, but he’s quite the softie on the inside and I know that he has a special place for his Mama in his heart.
So I started back to ICR last week, Tuesday…and let me tell you, it kicked my ass hard!! I knew that I had gotten out of shape in the 2 months that I didn't go, but oh man!! I was so sore the next day!! I was barely about to do 3 miles in that hour class. And then Wednesday I was so incredibly sore!! Every muscle in my body hurt, including my jaw from clenching my teeth while doing the arm machine. By Thursday the soreness had passed, which I was thankful for!!
I didn't make it back into class on Thursday because Maizie had to go to the vet because she ripped on of her nails off beyond the quick. She and I had been playing fetch, the night before, and she jumped up to catch her ball and came down just right, tearing her nail off, exposing the quick. That damn thing bled and bled. I couldn’t believe the amount of blood that came out of the nail. I ended up using a gauze used for stopping a bloody nose, which worked great! I then wrapped it was an ace bandage that I cut to size and some medical tape. Then I took one of my tube socks and cut vertically down the band and fit it over her bandaged foot and tied it up and around her belly. It stayed on well til Thursday morning when I got to take her to see her vet.
When we got to the vet, the weighed her and shes a whopping 10.1 lbs, which means she has doubled in size since her last visit last year. They said shes the perfect weight for her size. they took us back into a room and then took her back to have her nail looked at. When they brought her back, the vet said that her nail had broken all the way back, exposing the quick. She said it could have been worse, but not by much. They wrapped it with gauze and self adhesive tape, put her on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication, gave her 3 yr rabies shot, trimmed the rest of her nails and charged me over $200. It’s still bleeding a little bit, and I have had to change the gauze a couple times…but the vet says that will happen and unless it gushes blood, gets infected or inflamed thats its okay. She’s favoring it some, but for the most part shes back to her old playful self.
My mom just walked in the door; shes doing PT to help her muscles. She needs to talk to me about what’s going on with her sister, my Aunt Lauri. Apparently shes been in the hospital, but it home now. the two of them hav talked a little about moving in together, so that my mom could become hr caretaker, of sorts. And apparently there is a 5 bedroom modular home for rent out here in the community that my moms trailer is in. So, I am going to get this posted.
