My Sick Household…BLAH
Apr. 2nd, 2022 04:54 pmSaturday April 2, 2022 4:06pm

I’m sitting in the living room, in my recliner, enjoying a steamy mug of turmeric and ginger herbal tea. I’m still not feeling 100%, but I am much better than I was a couple days ago. I went to see my Doc, in person, on Thursday for any every 3 month appointment. He had given me antibiotics during our video visit and said I could take coricidin hbp to help with the symptoms. It has all helped a lot! I dont think I could run. Marathon right now, but I can certainly move around and get things done. Luckily Paige hasn’t gotten sick from any of this yet. She’s been keeping to herself pretty much, in her bedroom and avoiding my mom and I. I cant say that I blame her; I dont want her to get sick ether!!

My mom is still pretty sick. She went to see her Doc Wednesday and they ran a bunch of tests, all of which came back negative. Her Doc did not put her on any kind of antibiotic, which I feel she should have but did tell her to take coricidin hbp, like me. I can hear my mom wheezing from across the room and I am really concerned about that. I told her to start using her albuterol inhaler every 4 hours to help her lungs. She may have to go to urgent care or contact her Doc on Monday for antibiotics too. My mom has COPD and emphysema from smoking for 60’ish years. She knows that she needs to quit, and has tried many many times, but has been unsuccessful. I wish that shed try to quit again!
When I am my Doc on Thursday, he talked to me again about having weight loss surgery. Apparently my cardiologist and him talked about it and feel that it is something I need to help keep my heart as healthy as possible. I’m not at all scared to have it done; hell, I was in the process of getting cleared for it when I found out about my heart issues. And I know several people that have had it done with great success, Linda being one of them. And my cardiologist has already said that he would clear me for it…so my foot is already in the door, so to speak. And…I am not officially a “Controlled Diabetic”, which means I am doing something right to maintain my blood sugars! I am beyond proud of myself for that!! It’s been a long road to get here, but very worth the struggles!! Ive changed the way I eat t help maintain my BS and that hasn’t always been an easy thing to do.

Below is a Pic of my actual heart valve; to show what it looks like. Of course, this image doesn’t show my ring that repaired my tricuspid valve from leaking nor does it show the many stents that have Ben placed in my heart. The radiation that I had to beat the Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma that was wrapped around my esophagus really took its toll on my heart. Before I started the treatment, I was told that the radiation would hit a small area of my heart and that it could cause damage when I got older. They said there was a chance, a small chance and that it would be a problem until I got older. Well, I didn’t think that older would be less than 20 years down the road. I thought it would be when I was in my 80-90’s, NOT 55 years old!! And definitely not this severe!!

When I saw my oncologist a couple years ago, she did say that things have changed in the way they treat NHL, and that they “dont throw radiation around like they used to” Which is a very good thing! There are so many people in my heart support group who have Valve Stenosis due to radiation treatments. It’s truly sad! I mean, I would have NO heart issues if it wasn’t for what the radiation did to my heart. That says alot!!
Well, Saima just called me; apparently Avaya wants to spend the night here tonight, but due to my mom still being sick, cant. So… Saima is getting us a room at a local hotel to spend the nigh instead. Paige and I will stay there with Avaya and have a fun girls night with the hot tub and pool! I’m actually excited cuz I haven’t been swimming since my heart surgery. I plan to get my big ass in that pool!! I’ll leave Maizie Jane here with my mom for the night. I just need to teach my mom how to use our TV. We dont have cable, we stream through a laptop instead and have several different streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and AMC+
